This set was sold only through the Sears Roebuck Department store in America in 1965. It appears in their 1965 Christmas Catalogue!

Unseen by even the most prestigious auction houses and most Dinky toy experts. We actually had two pristine examples, one of which had been carefully opened, the other still sealed. This is the (carefully!) opened example.
Bought from a private individual in the U.S. Found when his mother died, intended, but never given, as a present on the birth of his son (who is now 48!) Absolutely genuine and as-made. The boxes are all astonishingly fresh and crisp, with the contents in mint/as-made condition. Having said that, the Dinky 113 MGB model has three factory casting marks on the driver’s door and the D238 has a couple of little marks at exposed points. You wi find the occasional small mark – but as-made. D243 BRM and D242 Ferrari have a part-puncture to their boxes.

Indeed, the boxes that have been opened feel as if they have been opened just a couple of times ever.
The outer plain card box is very clean crisp and fresh and has obviously been barely handled. A few surface marks.
A truly remarkable set – one of only two we have ever seen!
