D501
Dinky 501 Foden Diesel 8-Wheel Wagon. Near mint/boxed. Scarce 1st type issue. Red/fawn with silver flash. From a premium collection in the U.S.
Notes
Issued between 1948-52, this 1st type Foden has a vivid red cab and chassis, fawn back and silver flash.
In all original condition, with a fine lustre to the paint finish.
Fine tread radial tyres. Tanker slits. Large painted hook, spare wheel and shiny baseplate. 20 mph label.
Usual little marks at some wheel arches, few little marks on the fawn side in one area toward the rear. Dot or two besides.
So often, these high profile models come to the market place with touch-ins and repainting. How refreshing it is to find one in honest and authentic condition with a wonderful lustre. A very fine display piece!
The early powder blue box with a paper label is very nice indeed with a clean and complete paper label. Minimal rubbing etc, and pen pricing at a lid end.
