D501
Dinky 501 Foden Diesel 8-Wheel Wagon. Excellent plus/boxed. Scarce 1st type issue. DARK GREY & RED with red flash. From the Italian collection. Lovely early buff box!
Notes
An early classic Foden model ? this particular version was made between 1947-48 only. Finished with a distinctive dark grey cab and back with a red flash, chassis and hubs, this is a scarce find.
Correct with no tank slits or chain post bosses on the base, small tow hook. Complete with all original radial tyres including the spare. 20mph sign in place on a rear wheel arch.
There are a few marks at cab roof edges (hard to notice with this forgiving colour finish). Chip head-on. Large chip at one side and a few small marks besides. Again, not immediately obvious due to the colour finish. Few very minor marks on the bed, wheel arches etc. Extra sweep of well-matched red paint at the front wheel arches.
The early buff box with a paper label is in superb condition. Rare to find these early boxes so nice! Crisp feel to the card and even the staples are shiny!. Day-one bright colours to the paper label (couple of tiny top edge nibbles). No splits. Early factory daub of paint at one end of the lid (early colour spot) has largely been removed now. Shopkeeper’s period price at one lid end. Only the most minor wear.
