Notes
A small range of Corgi models (5 in total) were gold plated in 1961 and were sold by Marks & Spencer. Few are available and are sought-after nowadays, even if they did not sell particularly well at the time.
This BRM model is in very fine original condition with the distinctive mirror plated finish.
Conplete with the windscreen (often missing!). None of the expected chipping at the nose or at exposed edges either. Small rub on the bonnet.
The racing car is mounted on a black moulded base with a gold-edged name label. Also present is the piece of clear perspex which fits over the model when on the stand:
(although one of the tags which secure it into the black base has broken off).
The special Trophy box is complete (although one end flap has been re-attached and another has a tape repair). Both end flaps bear the BRM label.
Small area of surface removal at one end – not obvious due to the colour of the card.
An interesting piece of Corgi history – and certainly a shrewd investment piece.
