Always in extremely short supply, especially in this intact and authentic condition, this pre-war Gift Set is complete with all three original brightly-hued Dinky racers sitting in the original silver card Dinky inner. A jewel of a set – and so hard to come by! All three cars look as if they are original to this set, are fatigue-free and comprise:
1) 23d Auto-Union finished in scarlet with racing number 1 in a deep yellow circle on both sides. Driver. Bright baseplate and axles. Smooth black wheels. Herringbone tyres (one tyre is distorted now). Very few chips. Nice lustre. No repainting.

2) 23c Mercedes-Benz finished in canary yellow with racing number 1 in a blue circle. Driver. Bright baseplate and axles. Smooth black wheels (light crazing). Herringbone tyres (all tyres have varying degrees of distortion now). Otherwise, near mint. No repainting.

3) 23e ‘Speed of the Wind’ in mid-blue with racing number 1 in a white circle. Driver. Smooth black wheels (light crazing). Herringbone tyres (all tyres have varying degrees of distortion now). Small blistered paint finish behind the driver Otherwise, near mint. No repainting.

Silver card inner is complete. Cut-out section for each car is individually shaped with the name of the car printed in blue immediately below. Couple of little tears.

Lift-off lid box is most attractive; brightly-coloured deep cobalt blue with contents descriptions to underside of lid.

Expected wear at edges, heavier in some places. No graffiti. Unusual version has the ‘advertisement’ for other colour finishes for these racing cars printed in a square on the lid, outlined in black.

Extremely scarce item.
