Notes
A Pre-War military set which is very difficult to find.
Made between 1937-41, it comprises:
1) 151A Medium Tank – structurally sound and complete with aerial, notably the turret rotates well, complete tracks, wheels turn, original paint finish is excellent with some paint flakes at the rear.
2) 151b Transport Wagon – very nice, with some fatigue crazing to the doors. The tow hook is complete but repaired, driver’s side front axle mounting has a repair, axle no longer rotates, but wheels do.
3) 151c Cooker Trailer is sound and complete, although one wheel has been glued presumably to stabilize fatigue cracks.
4)151d Water Tank, axle is now glued to base as mountings have broken.
The deep blue box with a hinged front has a delightful pictorial scenic backdrop which is clean, bright and vibrant with no tears or repairs/grubby marks. None of the expected tears/wear at the hinged flap. Excellent backdrop for the models when on display.
The lift-off lid is in exceptional condition too with an attractive unfaded powder blue colour carded lid. Rarely seen so fresh!
Indeed, the inside of the lid looks as fine as you could wish! Condition belies its age. Only the most minor age wear. Shopkeeper’s price is penned at one end.
And how rare to find with the card packing piece which fits over the models in the box!
Overall, this is a very nice and scarce Pre-War Dinky Gift Set in an exceptional box with inner packing!
