Dinky Gift Set 160 Royal Artillery Personnel
Royal Artillery Personnel by Dinky Toys, No. 160. Near mint plus-very near mint/boxed. Rare Wartime Set. Dated May 1940. With early U.S. Export label. From The 25 Year Collection in California. Starting bid £250. Please note that QDT apply 12.5% buyer's commission.
Notes
A very scarce set, few have survived from this period, and understandably those that have survived show varying degrees of crazing/fatigue, due to the unstable nature of the combination of the metals used during this early period.
It has been some 16 years since we have had an example to offer for sale.
This set is complete with all of its original figures strung:
1 × 60a N.C.O.
2 × 160b Gunner
2 × 160d Gunner
160c Gunlayer.
All are finished in the original khaki with details and stands where appropriate. All have very light crazing/fatigue.
The lift-off lid yellow card box, code A2303, is bright and fresh-looking with a little minor age wear only. Dated May 1940. Note the early U.S. export label in red too (no mention of Hudson Dobson U.S. importer at this time). Light edge wear.
