Notes
This collection represents a lifelong deep appreciation of Dinky Toys, Britains models, Minic models and more primarily from the 1940’s & 50’s. All British made diecast and tinplate models. Proceeds going to charities close to his heart.
Denis was an avid bus enthusiast, so it comes as no surprise that he has this little gem of a rare bus model by the Johilco company. A precious pre-war example – a small model measuring just 8cms. approx but feeling weighty just like Pre-war Dinky models due to their lead content.
Ths one-piece construction is finished in gloss cream and red with ‘OXFORD STREET’ on the destination board. One-piece metal wheels/tyres. ‘GT 7634’ numberplate detail at the rear. ‘GENERAL’ on both sides.
Impressive that there is so little marking to the paint finish. Note a light smudge of red paint partly obscuring a couple of small chips at a lower side edge.
We have not seen better – and doubt whether a better example exists!
