Notes
A very detailed and pleasing item from Corgi as part of their Corgi Comics range in all original and complete condition.(1969-72). This is the slightly rarer version with white wheels. It has all the moving figures of Popeye, Olive Oyl, Swee’Pea, Bluto and Wimpey. It works perfectly – as you push the model along the figures of Bluto and Wimpey go up and down whilst Popeye moves from side to side as he scans the horizon, and Olive Oyl sways from side to side as she drives along! A delightful item which has never been played with – complete with its cans of spinach! Little Swee’Pea is safely stowed in the life boat, which can be dropped down – both plastic attachments are absolutely fine on this example. The labels are very fresh and bright, and both jewelled headlights are present. A couple of tiny marks only which do not really detract, probably as made. The cellophane-fronted window box is in very nice condition. The inner card display piece is bright and clean with a little minor wear only. The outer box has all its end flaps and has a bright colourful scene on the reverse. No graffiti. Only minor wear at edges etc. We believe that the cellophane may have been replaced at some time. It has both polystyrene packing pieces.
This model looks great on display! A firm Corgi favourite and one of the nicest examples we have seen.
