Corgi Toys 252 Rover 2000
Rover 2000 by Corgi Toys, No. 252. Excellent plus/not individually boxed. Affixed to the original Cigarette Presentation Case. A very rare Corgi Presentation Model commissioned by The Rover Motor Company, October 1963. Starting bid £400. Please note that QDT apply 12.5% buyer's commission.
Notes
In October 1963, the Rover Motor Company commissioned a small quantity of pale gold-plated cars to coincide with the launch and to give away to VIPs, including press and export distributors.
This is one of the original models still mounted on its presentation cigarette case made of wood with a ‘marble’ lift-off lid, and ‘leather’ base. With the original label still in place:
No cigarettes inside the box now. The model has some marking to the finish mostly at exposed edges and raised details.
The presentation box has survived very well indeed -obviously rarely handled and well-stored.
A wonderful talking point in your collection. Very few have to come to light, although there is an example on display in The National Heritage Museum in Gaydon, Warwickshire.
