Notes
A sight to behold!
It is always exciting to find Dinky Shopkeeper’s Full Trade Boxes of models – and none more so than this complete box of 3 x Dinky 626 Military Ambulances!
It is obvious that this Trade Box has spent many years safely tucked away in the Dinky store room and has barely seen the light of day – until now.
Virtually mint condition in authentic military green finish, these military ambulances have cast-in red cross panels at the roof and sides. No window glazing on these early issues, made between 1956-61. Driver. Squadron markings at rear wheel arch and bonnet (complete). Bright baseplate. Rear doors open and close well on each Ambulance. Occasional negligible (must be!) factory mark available to the most uncharitable examination.
Wonderfully silky matte finish (these military finishes when handled can become ‘glossy’ over time – not so in this case).
Shiny baseplates, although one has a couple of tarnished patches. Well-shaped radial tyres.
Clean and crisp pictorial boxes have retained their day-one vibrancy – occasional minor part-puncture caused by model contact over the years.
Classic Dinky models in outstanding original condition.
The buff Trade Box is complete and clean showing a little age wear and a storage crumple. Remains of the old tape which kept the end flaps closed (small area of surface loss where tape was removed at some time). ‘LF’ (lead free label in place. Dinky factory stamp dates this set from November 1956.
