Chilean Dinky Toys 216 Dino Ferrari
Dino Ferrari by Chilean Dinky Toys, No. 216. Chilean vibrant red version. Excellent plus/in number specific Chilean card box! So rare to come to the market place. From A Phenomenal Collection.
Notes
Bringing into focus a new seam of Dinky export, we are thrilled to be able to offer these remarkable models for sale. Issued in extremely low numbers at the time, they were assembled and painted in Arica, a duty-free city on the Northern tip of Chile. These exceptionally rare models were discovered by a Dinky collector on a trip to South America. The castings were made in the U.K. and then assembled and painted in Chile. It appears that if the British version came in a perspex box, a numbered/generic Chilean card box was used, otherwise the model came in a standard British card box.
Finished in a vibrant flame red, this Chilean issue has unpainted spoked wheels including the spare stowed ( British issue has gold wheels). All-red engine cover on this version , light blue interior, black base, Chilean rivets. Black exhausts. No racing numbers or number plates on this issue.
A little marking to the paint finish on the roof detail and a stray smudge of silver at a wheel arch.
Presented in the authentic, number specific ‘ARMADO EN ARICA’ (Made in Africa) Chilean issue card box with red DINKY TOYS print. Some wear and tear and it lacks the little tuck-in part of one end flap.
Especially thrilling to have sight of these hitherto unknown Dinky boxes!
