Dinky Toys 101 Thunderbird 2
Thunderbirds 2 & 4 by Dinky Toys, No. 101. 1st issue. Excellent plus -near mint/boxed. With FRENCH INSTRUCTION LEAFLET. From The Berlin Collection.
Notes
First issue from 1967-73 in all original dark gloss green. The Thunderbird 2 is happily free from the usual little problems that are all too frequent with these early examples i.e. the retractable yellow legs are well-shaped and retract well.
In close to mint condition with a little wear to the paint finish in places. The plated parts are bright. Thunderbird 2 labels are complete throughout. A little wear to the foil label on the fin.
Note too that this example comes complete with the small Thunderbird 4 inside the pod.
The metal pod which has to be slid out has marking which of course is invisible when assembled – and unavoidable as metal slides across metal.
The attractive inner card stand has lots of great artwork and looks fresh with excellent strong colours. Clean and crisp! Minor wear only. Both tuck-in end flaps are present, intact and firmly attached.
Very light wear.
Operating Instructions on the reverse and note this issue was intended for the French market since the leaflet with operating instructions in French are included.
The distinctive card outer box presents well and is happily free of the usual discolouration/foxing to the white background. Note the area of surface loss on one side (probably due to a price label removal at some time). Tear to the tuck-in section of one large end flap and very minor wear besides.
A great Gerry Anderson model to add to your collection – this early issue is a strong favourite with many collectors. Not often found with the French issue instruction leaflet.
