Notes
A rare and wonderful early Dinky Gift set and a difficult find in any condition. Issued between 1935-41.
This set comprises:
1) Dinky 44a A.A. Box. Black and yellow highly detailed tinplate box with signature A.A. badge and intact delicate direction signs on the roof. Clean and bright with a little of the expected wear to finish mostly at edges. Highly decorative piece from this era.
2) Dinky 44b Motor Cycle Patrol. Earliest issue (1935-40) with more detailing to the tan rider, and intact solid white rubber wheels. A little light chipping at some exposed edges and very light crazing in places. Another excellent example from this period.
3) Dinky 44c A.A. Guide lead cast figure in tan. Near mint – very near mint figure directing the traffic. Delightful with original (factory) hand painted detailing. Just a few little marks on this figure.
4) Dinky 44d A.A. Guide lead cast figure in tan. Very near mint saluting figure. Fresh, finished in tan with original hand painted detailing (factory). Super example.
Colourfully illustrated inner card background which is sound and bright. Few little stains which barely detract.
Lift-off lid powder blue box is deeply-coloured with no splits or graffiti. A small area of blue ink disguising surface loss, we believe on the lid. Light rubbing/wear besides. Small area of surface loss at a short lid end and period pencilled writing at another.
