Corgi Toys 801 Noddy, Big Ears and Golly (grey-faced) Car
Noddy, Big Ears and Golly (grey-faced) Car by Corgi Toys, No. 801 V Scarce issue with DISHED wheels. Very near mint/boxed. From The Wesley Lodge Collection. QDT starting bid £300. Please note that QDT apply 12.5% buyer's commission.
Notes
Issued during 1969 with a black-faced Golly, this is the second issue where the colour was changed to a lighter grey colour, in response to racial concerns. Later still, the Golly would have a pink or light tan face and then eventually be replaced with the uncontroversial Mr.Tubby!
This example is in virtually perfect condition. A most attractive item, with all three figures of Noddy, Big Ears and Golly crammed into a bright red and yellow ‘cartoon’ car with balloon tyres! Hard to find version with dished wheels.
Paintwork is vivid and mark-free. Lighter application of chrome to front bumper (factory) and a small nick to the chrome on one headlight.
Window box is dated 1969 on the reverse. Very bright, clean and fresh-looking, with intact original cellophane. Couple of small storage creases.
