Notes
A small range of Corgi models (5 in total) were gold-plated in 1961 and were sold by Marks & Spencer. Few are available and are sought-after nowadays, even if they did not sell particularly well at the time.
This TR3 model is even harder to find! The owner tells us:
“Corgi 305 Triumph TR3 was intended as a replacement for the Corgi TR2 model but it was never issued. However, just a small number found their way overseas in the usual boxes as a standard 305 TR3”.
In all original condition with the distinctive mirror ‘gold’ mirror-plated finish, red seating, steering wheel and intact windscreen (often missing!).
A little flaking to the mirror finish at a rear wheel arch. Surface smudge mark on the bonnet. Tiny mark or two besides.
Shiny base has some tarnished marking. Detailed cast wheels are notably fresh and not dulled (as is so often the case).
Presented in the standard 305 box as expected, since this model was mooted but actually never issued as part of the Trophy range. Light age/handling wear. With the little card packing piece which protects the windscreen.
An interesting piece of Corgi history – and an exceptional find.
