Dinky 49

Notes

Acknowledged in ‘The Great Book Of Dinky Toys’, this collector in the U.S. brings his 37 year collection to QDT. Included are some very rare items and a wealth of period literature and catalogues.
This is the scarce 1st issue version (1935-41) in the powder blue lift-off lid box and ‘PRATTS’ lettering on the Oil Bin.
This five piece set comprises:

1) 49a Bowser Petrol Pump, in green. Excellent plus (original hook and remains of rubber hose)

2) 49b Wayne Petrol Pump in turquoise. Very good plus, with some paint loss but only light crazing in a couple of small places, although understandably the rubber hose has perished (original hook and remains of rubber hose included).

3) 49c Theo Petrol Pump, in rich violet blue. Excellent plus with blistering to the paint at the base where it has been in contact with the inner and understandably the rubber hose has perished (original hook and remains of rubber hose included).

4) 49d Shell Petrol Pump, in red. Very good plus with fatigue and a small glue repair. Rubber hose has perished (original hook and remains of rubber hose included).

5) 49e ’PRATTS" Oil Bin, in in deep yellow, with fine lettering. Excellent plus with some minor marking and a little fatigue.

Lift-off lid box has retained its vibrancy and has no seam splits or repairs. Light marking and edge rubbing. Complete with a very nice card insert into which each item slots. Minor wear only.
