Dinky 161
Dinky 161 Austin Somerset Saloon. Scarce red and yellow version. Very near mint/boxed. From The Cumbrian Collection.
Notes
Now here’s a rare and sought-after variation! This gleaming bright jewel of a car has a two-tone red and yellow finish. Issued between 1956-59. Wonderfully vivid lustre and a shining silver trim.
A desirable car in very close to mint condition. Occasional negligible marks and a rub to the rear number plate. We surmise that this model received a spatter of white emulsion when a bedroom, perhaps, was being decorated (just one small area has a few spattered dots which may be possible to remove. Actually, better than the picture shows).
Bright base and smooth-running original tyres.
The box is bright and complete, with the correct two-colour spot at the end flaps. Some age grubbiness and light handling wear.
Notoriously difficult to get in good condition!
