Corgi Gift Set 9

The owner tells us:
All of the models from The Smith Collection were bought by the same young boy on a weekly basis when they were released, and kept by the same collector unplayed with and in many cases never taken out of their boxes, right up until the present day. Rather unusual for a lad to buy toys and not play with them but he was a collector from a very young age!

Rare to come to the market place – this impressive Gift Set has been in storage since new, for the past 55 or so years. 1959-62 – this is the early issue with metal not plastic cogs on the Corporal Guided Missile Erector Vehicle.
The set comprises:

1)* Corgi 1124 Launching Ramp for Corporal Missile*, in matt military green. Unused. Small area of paint blistering on one small area of the base where it has been in prolonged contact wiht the card inner.
2) Corgi 1113 Corporal Guided Missile Erector Vehicle, in matt military green, with a movable boom which can elevate to vertical so that the missile can be lowered onto the launching pad. Spare wheel in place often missing. Metal cogs version – model elevates well. Small area of paint blistering (mostly at lower edge, head-on) where the model has been in prolonged contact with the card inner. Missile has a Percussion. Missile has minimal marking.
3) Corgi 1118 International Tow Truck. Military green finish, with a removable tin canopy. Original radial tyres run well. Prolonged contact with the card inner has caused some paint blistering head-on and a ‘whitened’ area on the fuel tank. Couple of little marks to the paint finish.
Included is the delicate lower card packing piece which is remarkably intact. Upper card packing piece too, small card packing wedge, card packing ring, and even the small paper pieces around the missile!
We believe that these models were removed from the box for the first time in order to take these pictures.

Large and colourful pictorial, lift-off lid box is vibrantly-coloured and complete.
One of the best boxes we have ever seen for this Gift Set! Nearly always showing heavy wear and seam splits – this box is all intact (including lid seams), with no repairs. A few minor edge rubs, light storage grubbiness etc. No graffiti either.

A very rare set.
