C280
Corgi 280 Rolls Royce Silver Shadow. Very rare GOLD-PLATED version, with accompanying photograph, as seen in The Great Book of Corgi, page no. 452. From the MBU collection.
Notes
An exciting and authentic item from The MBU Collector.
Identical to the plinth-mounted example pictured in ‘The Great Book of Corgi’, this gold-plated Rolls Royce model was found in component form in the office of Marcel Van Cleemput, Chief Designer for Corgi.
Given to the MBU collector, along with other items from Marcel Van Cleemput’s office in gratitude for his contribution to ‘The Great Book of Corgi’.
It is uncertain how many gold-plated Rolls Royce were made – believed to be a ‘shelved’ project, an intended presentation item.
No plaque with this example, but the original photograph used in The Great Book of Corgi is still present!
