C405
Corgi 405 Bedford "Utilecon" A.F.S. Tender. Near mint/unboxed. Early sample piece from 1956 in very dark green with silver ladder attachment. Pictured in The Great Book of Corgi. Very rare item from The Berkshire Collection.
Notes
Originally sold by us to the Berkshire Collector from a well-known collection in Switzerland.
One of an exceptional collection of prototypes were purchased by ‘The New European Collector’, largely originating from two well-documented sources i.e. the auction of the property of Marcel Van Cleemput at Sotheby’s Auction House in 1999 and The Auction House in Germany during 2000_.
An exceptionally scarce early sample piece from The Lösch Auction House (lot number 2220) , this 405 Bedford AFS model is in all original condition. Pictured in ‘The Great Book of Corgi’, page 35.
Note that this example is finished in very deep green ( the ‘standard’ issue would be lighter) and has a silver ladder attachment (not black) on the roof, and an early tinplate baseplate.
Notice the hole at one side – which is not a casting flaw since it is finished properly and has a bolt thread within.
