N142
Nicky/Dinky Toys 142 Jaguar Mark X Saloon. Metallic Emerald Green version. Near mint/boxed, with luggage. Scarce. From The Compton Collection.
Notes
Sought after models that are so difficult to find in good condition! Dinky dies were sold to the Indian Firm S. Kumar & Co. trading as Atamco. (1968-70). Often known as Indian-Dinky toys, the finish was poor in comparison.
A close to mint example finished in a rich metallic emerald green with original silver details, off-white interior, steering wheel. Original sliver details. Early issue with spun metal wheels and treaded tyres. NICKY TOYS and product details on base.
Complete with original blue plastic suitcase.
A couple of chips on the roof, and the occasional tiny mark besides. A dab of (what appears to be) dark green paint on a boot edge.
The colourful correct box (ATAMCO P LTD. Calcutta) is complete and crisp, although feeling frail now with a couple of end flap tears and tape re-enforcement at one small end flap hinge. Part-puncture on the box base. Typical for these flimsy boxes.
A fascinating piece of Dinky history and well worth incorporating into your collection, these models have seen significant value increases over the past couple of years.
