Notes
A breath-taking, unique, pre-production Pop-Art Mini from this Corgi specialist collection.
A message from the owner:
The Pink Mostest Pre-Pro I have came from an ex-employee of Corgi via a Sotheby’s (Billingshurst) auction in 1990 (if I remember correctly) and was sold to me by a dealer who should have known better … I obtained 4 other rarities from this same trader, none of which were expensive and slipped past his nose undetected … the original owner was able to purchase these pieces from a staff shop and apparently quite often trial colour samples were disposed of in this way. I know this from a former Corgi Sales Director by the name of Nigel Loveland who used to sell me shrink-wraps and Gift Sets at most big Toyfairs, we got friendly over time and a lot of my really mint toys came from him, sadly he is no longer with us having passed away in 2011.
This original and beautiful pre-production model has a mid-pink finish (the production model would be finished in red) and silver detail headlights (the production example would have jewelled headlights). The delicate transfers are notably complete. Detailed cast wheels and well-shaped original treaded tyres. Note the original sticker ‘1’ still attached to the base.
Graded virtually mint – just a couple of negligible dots.
