CGS36
Corgi Gift Set 36 Tarzan. Pre-production Set from The Monty Calme Collection. Very rare - and includes key box differences too.
Notes
An exciting find – sold by QDT to this collector several years ago.
This pre-production sample piece comprises:
1) Land-Rover & Trailer finished in metallic green and light tan ( as production issue).
2) Dinghy (plastic) in dark grey and deep brown ( production version in plastic is finished in deep brown and tan).
3) Tree House (plastic) is deep green. Production issue in plastic is dark brown.
4) Painted metal figures of Tarzan (x 2) , Jane, Boy, Cheetah, alligator, lion, elephant and hunter.
5) Green plastic snake ( as production issue).
6) Length of black rope (production issue is green).
No vines with this pre-production version.
No top cover was devised at this stage – figures merely have a length of tape to secure them in place. Intact lower sturdy plastic moulded tray (as production issue).
Large and colourful outer box is very similar to the production version but note some key text differences i.e. red highlighted box bottom right has ‘with 3D Jungle Panorama’ printed. Same print at end flaps too. Production issue has two lines of print which includes the french translation.
Also top right has the print ‘Some plastic components made in Hong Kong’ in this pre-production issue, whilst the production issue has ‘Figures made in Hong Kong’ and then translation in French below.
Box reverse images have a couple of differences too.
