D48
Dinky 48 Petrol Station. Very near mint /boxed. A rare early Dinky Accessory in outstanding condition from The BST Collection.
Notes
A rare find in any condition, let alone in this close to pristine state – and so hard to find with such a well-preserved box! One of the best surviving examples.
This tinplate ‘FILLING AND SERVICE STATION’ has rarely been out of its box. Bright, unscratched lithography with a typical period scene depicted and mechanic in the doorway.
Advertisements for ‘Pratts’, ‘Michelin Tyres’, ‘KLG Plugs, ’Dunlop’ etc. Complete roof sign in tinplate. No loss of colour vibrancy whatever. Period shop price on the reverse of the item.
An exceptional, fresh example – this item was issued between 1935-41 and measures approx. 19.5 cms x 13 cms.
One of the best boxes for this item you will ever see. Mid pinkish-tan card with Meccano Dinky details stamped at one side, along with a period price of 1/6. Sturdy box with a card insert which strengthens it. Small tear and a light crease. Tiny wear besides.
