Notes
One of the pre-production items from an ex-Corgi employe (Corgi engineer) and sold through Bonhams Auction House in 2009, lot number 377.
We are delighted to offer for sale the pre-production sample of one of the most popular Corgi models – Corgi 266 Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, issued in 1968.
This pre-production piece bears all the familiar details with a few little differences, namely the figures are hand-painted and Jeremy the boy figure is wearing a deep blue suit. Note that it lacks one of the little rear jewels. The production version has a windscreen frame but it appears that a plastic screen to simulate glass within the frame was also considered, and this accompanies the item.
