Notes
As part of the celebrations of the Queen’s Silver Jubilee in 1977, The ‘Daily Express’ newspaper group ran a competition and the winners received a special presentation piece of Corgi’s 1902 State Landau. An accurate model with beautiful attention to detail.
Each one was signed by the chief designer for Corgi, Marcel Van Cleemput.
Mounted on a mahogany plinth. Four horses. The Queen’s outfit is yellow.
All delicate parts are intact and complete. Note the paper label with the following printed details
‘Corgi 1902 State Landau Presented by the DAILY EXPRESS’
which borders the mahogany plinth. Note the signature of Marcel Van Cleemput. Little crease or perhaps a carefully repaired surface tear at this site. Tiny wear besides. Very small edge nick to the mahogany plinth.
Substantial clear plastic cover.
An extremely scarce period piece – and only the second we have ever offered for sale.
