C219
Corgi 219 Plymouth Suburban Sports. Colour trial in pale blue and black. Excellent plus/not boxed. Probably one of only a handful or even a unique piece from The 'Monty Calme' Corgi Collection.
Notes
The Monty Calme landmark Corgi Collection, covering the width and breadth of Corgi models amassed over decades by an exuberant collector. The Monty Calme collection is a truly astonishing gathering of the best of Corgi models and ephemera, including rare and unique pieces and point of sale items. The largest collection we have ever seen.
Monty says:
“This colour trial Plymouth Suburban model was part of a small batch of models I bought from an ex-employee of Corgi many years ago”.
The production model of Corgi 219 Plymouth Suburban Sports was finished in cream with a fawn roof. Later a suspension version would be issued i.e. Corgi 445 in pale blue with a red roof, with a later style baseplate. This shaped spun version in pale blue with a black roof, early base, and no suspension never went in to production. So, this is probably the only survivor made toward the end of the production run (1959-63).Note the tiny (always reassuring) minute fleck of factory paint immediately around one of the rivets.
Several little marks to the model which is not surprising since this item is over 50 years old and has never been boxed. Note the little extra dab of paint on a rear wing too.
