The Monty Calme landmark Corgi Collection, covering the width and breadth of Corgi models amassed over decades by an exuberant collector. The Monty Calme collection is a truly astonishing gathering of the best of Corgi models and ephemera, including rare and unique pieces and point of sale items. The largest collection we have ever seen.
Purchased at auction in December, 2009, this was one of many items sold on behalf of an ex-Corgi employee.
A most attractive colour trial in Corgi blue (!) and white, with complete transfers on both sides. The detachable ‘tarpaulin’ is light tan plastic over-painted in green. The production item would have a green plastic ‘tarpaulin’ cover. A most attractive item (the production model would be in vibrant deep-orange and white) in close to perfect condition with just a few marks to the paint finish. Note the period label beneath the cover ‘1 BRIGHT BLUE’.
The orange and white production model was issued during 1968.
