C269
Corgi 269 Gold-Plated Lotus Esprit in gold presentation box. Excellent/boxed with carded Instruction piece. An exceptionally rare item from 'The Monty Calme Corgi Collection'.
Notes
A landmark Corgi Collection covering the width and breadth of Corgi models amassed over decades by an exuberant collector. The Monty Calme collection is a truly astonishing gathering of the best of Corgi models and ephemera, including rare and unique pieces and point of sale items. The largest collection we have ever seen.
Just 10 14 Carat gold-plated Lotus Esprit models were made. The first model was presented to Princess Anne at the premiere of the James Bond film ‘The Spy Who Loved Me’. Others were presented to Cubby Broccoli (director of the film), and other personalities at the Playboy Club after the premiere, as well as Roger Moore, of course.
The gold-plated Lotus Esprit model is mounted on a blue and black plinth which has a secret drawer containing the missiles. Instruction card present which details the working features of this model.
Model has not been removed from the plinth but it has some rubbing rubbing/wear to the finish (almost entirely caused by enthusiastic polishing, we surmise). Still, an outstanding iconic piece!
It is mounted on a mint plinth in a complete and bright gold box. The has survived very well indeed . Attractive gleaming gold sheen and no tears. Minor wear only.
