C269
Corgi 269 James Bond Lotus Esprit. Very, very near mint/boxed. Rare version in RED OVER-SLEEVE - these were given out to VIPs and the Press at the Corgi Press Launch. An authentic example signed by Roger Moore. Another wonderful item from 'The Monty Calme' Corgi Collection.
Notes
A landmark Corgi Collection covering the width and breadth of Corgi models amassed over decades by an exuberant collector. The Monty Calme collection is a truly astonishing gathering of the best of Corgi models and ephemera, including rare and unique pieces and point of sale items. The largest collection we have ever seen.
One of a small number of James Bond Lotus Esprit models which were given out at the Corgi Press Launch following press showing of the film of ‘The Spy Who Loved Me’ (see page 353 of The Great Book of Corgi). Few have survived, this original red over-sleeve is composed of thin, glossy card with the iconic picture of James Bond and ‘The New James Bond Corgi’ printed in white. This example has been signed by Roger Moore.
With Corgi Dog Logo on over-sleeve reverse:
Note that the glue which fixed the over-sleeve in place has dried out over time, although could be given a light smear of glue again, if wished. No tears to this delicate card.
Beneath the sleeve, is the iconic James Bond Lotus Esprit, inspired by the film ‘The Spy Who Loved Me’, issued during 1977 (box is dated 1977 on the box reverse). In unused, virtually mint condition (one little as-made dot on one side), with a complete sprue of missiles and Instruction Leaflet.
The *’film strip’ header card box *is clean, bright and complete. Version with the ‘New’ tag (of course) and ‘hammer & sickle’ detail to the second ‘0’ of 007. Barely any wear at all, save for a small cellophane puncture, and a faint crease at header-card reverse.
An exceptionally scarce item and a must for the serious James Bond collector.
