Corgi Gift Set 1

Notes

A landmark Corgi Collection covering the width and breadth of Corgi models amassed over decades by an exuberant collector. The Monty Calme collection is a truly astonishing gathering of the best of Corgi models and ephemera, including rare and unique pieces and point of sale items. The largest collection we have ever seen.

1st issue (1957-62), this early version comprises:

1) 1101 Bedford Carrimore Car Transporter in blue and yellow, with flat spun wheels and silver deck details. Near mint (lacking some of the letters on one side, final letter ‘R’ of transporter on the other side has ‘drifted’). Few marks to the paint finish (nearly all confined to the rear ramp area).

2) 201 Austin Cambridge in powder blue, with flat spun wheels. Near mint plus. Few minor marks including a tiny ‘bloomed’ area on one side. Speckled tarnishing on the base. Well-shaped original tyres. Very nice early box with Corgi Club Membership Form.

3) 208 Jaguar 2.4 in matt white, with flat spun wheels. Excellent plus. Little chipping mostly on one front wing. MInor surface grubbiness on the roof (may be possible to carefully clean off). Little base speckled tarnishing. Fine original tyres. Another very nice early box with Corgi Club Membership Form included.

4) 302 MGA in metallic green with flat spun wheels and intact windscreen. No base tarnishing but requires a light surface clean. Fine original tyres. Near mint plus. Powder blue picture box is another fine example complete with Corgi Club Membership Form.

5) 301 Triumph TR2 Sports Car in vibrant grass green with flat spun wheels and as-new original tyres. A superb example in very close to mint condition! Few tiny spots of tarnishing on the base. Couple of tiny marks only to the paint finish. Another fine box with Corgi Club Membership Form included.

Correct that this early issue has yellow and black ‘Dummy Boxes’.
Original Instruction Leaflet is included too.

Colourful lift-off lid pictorial box has suffered wear but comes with interior card packing pieces. Corner repairs to the lid and wear besides.

Still an iconic Gift Set where typically the individual pieces have fared better than the outer box. Price reflects this.
