D501
Dinky 501 Foden Diesel 8 Wheel Wagon. Near mint/boxed. Scarce 2nd type issue. Two tone blue version. From a large, stunning diverse collection with many items in old shop stock condition.
Notes
From one of the largest, private collections we have ever seen, with many items bought new at the time and stored away until now. Taken as a whole, the collection provides an exciting, kaleidoscopic snapshot of popular diecast toys issued during the 1960?s -1970?s.
Made between 1952-54, this is the 2nd type cab version with no flash at cab sides. In violet blue finish with a paler blue back and matching hubs. Presents very nicely with an exceptionally fresh and gleaming paint finish, and even under minute scrutiny, no touch-ins are found.
Well-shaped, grey radial tyres and Supertoy hubs. Bright clean baseplate and metal parts generally including the axle ends.
An honest example, so no surprise that there are a few little marks at wheel arches. One little mark at a rear corner edge of the roof and a little mark at the tow hook.
Bright fresh deep blue box with a complete and vivid paper label.
Showing minor handling wear. Note the shopkeeper was most insistent that this was a 902 model. Probably a 1954 issue ? the year when the 502 model was re-numbered 902. Export issue ? note the bright ?Hudson Dobson? label at one lid side. Minor scuff to this label.
A difficult find, especially in this condition.
