D215
Dinky 215 Ford GT Racing Car. 'Chilean' Cream finish. Excellent plus/boxed. In generic Chilean card box! Exceptionally rare Chilean version. The first time these models, hitherto largely unknown, have come to the market place.
Notes
Bringing into focus a new seam of Dinky export, we are thrilled to be able to offer these remarkable models for sale. Issued in extremely low numbers at the time, they were assembled and painted in Arica, a duty-free city on the Northern tip of Chile. These exceptionally rare models were discovered by a Dinky collector on a trip to South America. The castings were made in the U.K. and then assembled and painted in Chile. It appears that if the British version came in a perspex box, a numbered/generic Chilean card box was used, otherwise the model came in a standard British card box.
Unlike its British cousin which is finished in white, this Chilean issue has a cream/off-white finish, black engine bays, black base, jewelled lights, silver spoked wheels, well-shaped, supple original tyres, intact navy blue racing strip, complete racing number 7.
The rear window on this Chilean version is fixed with adhesive rather than rivetted (note the adhesive has dried out now).
Few chips. Bruise to windscreen/one side window, and a small scratch nearby.
Presented in the authentic ‘ARMADO EN ARICA’ (Made in Arica) Chilean issue card box with red DINKY TOYS print. Complete, with minor wear.
Especially thrilling to have sight of these hitherto unknown Dinky boxes!
