D242
Dinky 242 Ferrari Racing Car. Very near mint/boxed. Exceptionally rare Chilean version. The first time these models, hitherto largely unknown, have come to the market place.
Notes
Bringing into focus a new seam of Dinky export, we are thrilled to be able to offer these remarkable models for sale. Issued in extremely low numbers at the time, they were assembled and painted in Arica, a duty-free city on the Northern tip of Chile. These exceptionally rare models were discovered by a Dinky collector on a trip to South America. The castings were made in the U.K. and then assembled and painted in Chile. It appears that if the British version came in a perspex box, a numbered/generic Chilean card box was used, otherwise the model came in a standard British card box.
Finished in quite startling red, blue and yellow (the British version, of course, is all-red), with racing number 20 front and rear, white driver with silver helmet, spun wheels and ‘M’ stamped original well-shaped tyres. Intact screen. Engine bay in blue. Rivetted.
In very close to mint condition. Just a negligible mark or two.
Presented in the standard British Dinky box. Minor wear to the box.
