D23P
Dinky 23P Gardner's MG Record Car. Near mint/not individually boxed. From The Essex Collection.
Notes
Issued between 1946-47, this model would originally have been sold from a shopkeeper’s box of six.
An exciting model of the MG in which Major Gardner reached speeds of over 200 miles per hour in 1939.
This example has a fine sheen to the paint finish with an intact and original MG transfer on the bonnet. We believe that the Union Jack labels at the sides may be later additions.
Bright baseplate too with ‘MG Record Car’ on the base:
Black ridged wheels, and smooth black original tyres have no flat spots. Note that one axle has been factory fitted slightly skewed.
Only the occasional minor mark to the original paint finish. Fine lustre.
