D38E
Trade Box (U.S. export) with dividers, containing 3 x Dinky 38E Armstrong Siddeley models (export issues). Scarce! Excellent-very near mint. From The Worcestershire Collection.
Notes
An exciting stash of U.S. export Armstrong Siddeley models still contained in the shopkeeper’s Trade Box with U.S. export label affixed.
Three different colour issues are offered, each with coloured wheels:
1 Light grey with matching ridged wheels, dark green interior. Intact original screen. In very near mint original condition with one small casting blemish on the bonnet and a rub at the outside edge of the seating. Bright baseplate.
2) Light grey with matching ridged wheels, deep mid-blue interior. Intact original screen. In excellent condition, although there are a couple of subtle retouches to the grey finish and we believe that the back edge of the tonneau has either been varnished or repainted, since it is gloss, whereas the rest of the seating area is matt.
3) Light green with deeper green ridged wheels, grey interior. Intact original screen. Near mint. Chip on the bonnet and a few small marks besides. Casting blemish on one wheel arch.
The sturdy lift-off lid shopkeeper’s trade box is complete and quite vividly-coloured, although there is some handling grubbiness to the lid. Tear at one short end of the lid as well as some surface loss at this site. Usual rubs and ruffles, and a trace of the original sellotape which kept the lid closed at one time. Complete U.S. export (Hudson Dobson) label on the lid. Originally, of course, this trade box would have contained 6 models. Notably, all the original dividers are still in place to avoid contact damage.
Exceptional!
