Another amazing year at QDT!

We would like to say a very big THANK YOU to all our customers and collectors all over the world who have made 2024 another special year for us at QDT!

There have been lots of highlights along the way!

We have found that collectors are just as eager as ever to add new models to their collections and increase their understanding and enjoyment of toys and models from the past.

Without doubt, the biggest collection we have handled this year has been
The Denis Tyler Collection.

We have been on a learning curve ourselves due to the entrancing range of toys and models mostly from the 1950’s.

His array of outstanding Minic models has beguiled collectors who never collected Minic models before – but now find them hard to resist!

Here is just one:

Achieved over £1000 at QDT Auction including premium.

The same goes for his Britains models, too:

This model achieved over £1100 at QDT Auction including premium.

The legacy of Denis Tyler’s  lifetime collection has already surpassed an incredible £225,000 at QDT Auction and many of his early Dinky commercials (Fodens, Tankers and Guy Trucks) are breaking world records:

Achieving over £6300 at QDT Auction including premium.

Remarkably there is more to come from this collector in 2025.

The Reference Collection has complemented this lifelong collection well, with a wide range of high quality Dinky models.

Determined bidding on this rare Dinky Trade Box of early Buses for instance:

surpassed all expectations achieving a landmark price of £2300 at QDT Auction!

Have you ever been in doubt about how much collectors value the very best quality?

Just take a look at this truly outstanding high profile Dinky Advertising Van which achieved over £3000 at QDT Auction:

One of the SUPER-RARE models from The Reference Collection:

This model achieved over £1900 including premium at QDT Auction.

One of the highlights from this vast collection we have to mention is this exquisite Minic Gift Set that he could not resist ….

Collectors found it hard to let go too – this magnificent set achieved £3300 at QDT Auction.

The Catania Collection has brought us an impressive array of models this year  (most notably French Dinky)  and we take pleasure in knowing that the never boxed models from the early 1950’s have a strong following particularly when they look like this!

This model achieved over £2300 at QDT Auction including premium.

The Gower Collection has loomed large at QDT this past year (more promised for 2025 too) and Corgi Collectors have been treated to some exceptional and rare pieces this year.

The stand out piece from 2024 for us has to be the colour trial Lamborghini Miura in mint green:

Although it is hard to ignore another Lamborghini colour sample from this collector too – this time in white:

Both models sold for £2500 at QDT.

A rare Corgi Gift Set 20 from this collector too reached £2700  at QDT Auction including premium:

We are often intrigued by The Spa Francorchamps Collection. His parents had a significant toy business back in the 1960’s with frequent imports direct from the Dinky factory (we have seen original invoices to this effect).

Here is just one memorable model we sold at QDT Auction for him back in February 2024:

Dinky toys 155 ford anglia gg566 front

which sold for over £4000 at QDT Auction including premium.

As the popularity of Dinky toys in the mid 1960’s including overseas continued to rise, Dinky toys for the South African market were assembled and finished there, using their own colour schemes:

Always eagerly sought-after, this is an especially rare and fine example, reaching £3150 at QDT Auction including premium.

We end this review at another remarkable landmark -
the desire for rare Dinky continues apace!

Capturing another period of Dinky History, the uniquely original Indian Dinky (Nicky) Toys are coveted by collectors, especially the rare colour versions:

achieved £31,350.

We look forward with anticipation to next year.
